Essential Driver Training

IN April 2011 the long awaited Step of Graduated Licensing for Learner Drivers commences in Ireland with the Introduction of Essential Driver Training {EDT}.

In a nut shell this will mean that all Learner Drivers obtaining their Learner Permit after 4/04/2011 will be unable to sit their Driving Test without a certifciate from their Registered R.S.A Instructor.

The Certifciate will have been signed off to the effect that 12 hours of structured Lessons each of one hour, and relating to a specific sylabus have been sucessfully completed.

The R.S.A are expecting that these 12 one hour (approx) Lessons will be spread over the six months that you will have to wait before being allowed to sit the Driving Test!

Does this mean that the 12 hour sylabus will equip you with the skills to Pass the Driving Test First Time

Passing your Driving Test First Time has nothing to do with Lady Luck..it is purely down to excellent and thorough Planning. You have never done the Driving Test before so how do you know what you should be doing and planning? Good Question...easy answer...you take pre Test Tuition from a Professional Driving Instructor. Definitely not a friend or relative. A Professional Instructor will know all the angles (and there are many) and will recommend probably six or eight hours of in-depth, fine tuning to bring you up to speed. Can't make the time? Then you have no business sitting the test! Tough but True!
