The Essential Weekly Checks!

  2. Check the Coolant level and ensure it is between the max and min levels on the resevoir..Do this when the engine is cold. Any small level change could indicate a drip ...drip... drip... kind of leak which will lead to a major overheating problem if not checked out by your Garage!
  3. Screenwash needs to be topped up regularly and a little blue additive used which helps the lubrication of the wipers and removes baked on insects from the Windscreen.Wiper Blades usually are replaced annually.

  5. Tyres need to be checked for cuts splits and bulges in the Tyre sidewall; Pressures need to be checked with your pressure guage and should be done before the car is driven when the tyres are cold.Tread Depth should be a minimum of 1.6mm.across 75 % of the width of the Tyre and around the circumference. This is the legal minimum.Your Tyres will be 80% Worn out at this tread depth and will be verging on lethal in the Wet.
  6. All lights and indicators should be looked at regularly including brake lights which are frequently ignored. One malfunctioning brake light will see your Driving Test Cancelled.
