Test Car Hire Introduction... Taking a Driving Test in an unfamiliar Car will almost certainly lead to a failed Driving Test since you will be unsure of how the car handles and even may not be aware of the location of all the equipment that you will have to use. All the secondary controls will be demonstrated to the Examiner before your Drive...mistakes will be penalised as a fault on your marking sheet. - Here at Astral Driving School we are happy to hire a school car for the purpose of taking the driving test providing that certain criteria are met.
- Priority will be given to existing pupils who who are on the regular Astral roster.
- Advance booking of two or three weeks is essential and no one will be offered the School Car without having undergone a two hour assessment lesson first.
- If the candidate is not up to standard, with at least a fair chance of success on the Day the Car will not be made available. It is up to the candidate to show that he or she means business!
- Hire cost is €110.00 which includes pick-up, one hour pre-test session, driving test, and return home. On average,depending on the location of the Pupils pick up point, the whole Test Session from start to finish will take approximately 3 hours.
- Cancellation List pupils,who will already have discussed and planned for the event, who get called at short notice and who require the car must telephone the school immediately on 086 8335433 so that other pupils can be notified to step down temporarily
- Short notice hire cost for Pupils who qualify after assessment is €125.00
- To qualify for use of school car for the test, a minimum of 4 x 2 hour lessons which include the assessment, must be booked by learner drivers not already training with Astral.
