So you should do this immediately after passing the Test. If you fail to take out a full License within two years you will have to sit the Driving Test again!

(2)  The Speed Limit on a Motorway has been slightly increased to 120KPH (75mph) since January 2005.

(3)  Cyclists and motorcycles under 50 cc are not permitted to use a Motorway

(4)  Vehicles not capable of sustaining a speed of at least 50kmph are forbidden.

(5)  Vehicles that do not have pneumatic Tyres are forbidden.

(6)  Invalid carriages, Pedestrians and Animals are also not permitted.

(7)  Stopping or Parking is not permitted except in the case of an accident or breakdown or when ordered to do so by a Gard.

Signs

The signs and markings you will find on a Motorway are well defined and large so that they can be seen a good way off by fast moving vehicles and correct and safe decisions can be made by the driver.

The signature colour of Motorway signs is Blue. You will see a preliminary sign for a turn off or exit a substantial distance from where you will need to turn and then as the turning is imminent a second sign will precede the standard 300,200 and 100 metre markers illustrating the point at which the slip road exit begins. At the100 metre mark the hard shoulder line will give way to a series of cross hatching indicating that your exit point is approaching.  An arrow will then appear to indicate the point at which you commence your gradual departure from the left hand lane into the slip road.
